Most of the book is about the story of wine in general written for a local audience (Chile). Of particular interest are the sections about Chile in the comtemporary era (1850-1950) (p. 116-133) and, the last chapter (149-172), Chilean Vitiviniculture, for the period 1950-2004, complemented with a winery listing.

About the Author

Rodrigo Alvarado Moore (1938-2010) is a Chilean agrónomo-enólogo who studied at the Universidad Católica de Chile where he would later also teach as profesor de Vitivinicultura. He worked for several associations and corporations (e.g. Asociación Nacional de Viticultores, Corporación Vitivinícola de Chile), commericial enterprises (Seagram Internationa, Enoteca Chile, Viña Errázuriz, and José Cánepa), and wrote several books. Socio Honorario of the ANIAE (Associación Nacional de Ingenieros Agrónomos).

Alvarado’s articles are bundled in several books.
