About the Author
Oz Clarke is one of the world’s leading wine experts, whose formidable reputation is based on his extensive wine knowledge and accessible, no-nonsense approach.
Oz (Robert Owen) Clarke (1949) grew up near Canterbury, studied Theology and Psychology at Oxford (Pembroke College) where he joined the Oxford Wine Circle (OUWC) and became the youngest British Wine Taster of the Year in 1973.

He started his career as an actor (e.g. 4th hood in Superman) and singer (Peron in Evita), which he continued to do until the late 1980s.

In 1984, his first weekly columns about wine appeared in the Sunday Express, followed by a impressive list of publications, starting with The Essential Wine Book (1985), the Websters Wine Price Guide (1986), re-branded as Oz Clarke’s Wine Buying Guide, Oz Clarke’s Wine Factfinder and Taste Guide (1989), Oz Clarke’s New Encyclopedia of French Wines (1990), Oz Clarke’s Pocket Wine Guide (1998), Wine Advisor and many more.
