Wines of Chile was published 25 years ago and although still of interest for some insights into the past, the book is less relevant for the wines of Chile today. Duijker profiles 66 producers, mainly in the Valle Central, and although most are still in business, many have changed owners, winemaker, brand, or focus. The wine law is mentioned but the book does not categorize the producers by DO. Viticulture north of Santiago and south of Maule is not included nor cold-climate and the more recent terruño-driven viticulture (Itata).

About the Author
Duijcker started writing about wine in 1969 (bundled and published as Kleintje wijn) and two years later started his weekly colum for the newspaper Het Financieele Dagblad until 2012 (41 years). In 1974 he started his career as fulltime wine writer and in the same year published De grote wijnen van Bordeaux (six editions and translated into English, German and French) followed by any other books and publications. The same year Duijker also wrote the first Dutch wine course for the Wijnacademie (and proposed the name for the qualification “vinoloog”: Verenigde Vinologen Nederland). Besides writing, Duijker travelled, consulted (KLM), and appeared on television for wine-related programs (youtube.com/@hubrechtduijker5670).
According to his own account, Duijker has written 123 books (translations not included). For the complete list (Dutch), see
