Review | A good introduction with wine recommendations |
Aldo Sohm‘s Wine Simple is not the first book about wine by a sommelier (and probably not the last). As explained in the introduction (Why do we need another book on wine, and why by a sommelier), Sohm has spent the last 25 years helping customers to find right wine for the occasion, opening thousands of bottles and listening to many more questions. He shares his wine expertise in an, indeed, “totally approachable” guide covering first the basics (how wine is made, winemaking styles, varietals and regions), how to drink (taste, buy, and order), before moving on to next-level wine tasting, and wine and food pairing. To write the book, Sohm teamed up with magazine editor Christine Muhlke and illustrator Matt Blease and the result is a very informative yet easy read.
